Privacy Policy

Stanza does not collect any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your scores, markings, compositions and recordings live on your iPad.

Who makes Stanza

Stanza is made by Filananda Andries, an independent developer. If you have a question about this policy, write to hello@stanzareader.com.

What stays on your iPad

Everything you put into Stanza stays on your device: imported PDFs, annotations and layers, setlists, compositions, recordings and settings. They are kept in the app's own storage and are included in your iPad backups if you have backups turned on. I never receive a copy.

Camera

Stanza uses the camera for two things, and only when you ask it to.

Scanning paper music. Pages are captured with Apple's document scanner, processed on your iPad and saved to your library.

Face Turns. If you turn on Face Turns, Stanza uses the front TrueDepth camera through Apple's ARKit to notice when you wink, so it can turn the page. Face data is processed in real time on your iPad and used only to turn pages. It is never stored, never leaves your device, is never shared with anyone and is never used to identify you, for advertising or for any other purpose.

Microphone

The tuner listens live to detect pitch; that audio is not stored. The recorder saves the recordings you choose to make, on your iPad only.

Nearby iPads (Ensemble Sync)

Ensemble Sync connects directly to other iPads nearby using Apple's peer-to-peer networking. Scores, page turns and the leader's markings go only to the iPads in your session. There is no server in between, and nothing passes through me.

The IMSLP browser

Stanza includes a browser for imslp.org. When you use it you are visiting IMSLP's website, and IMSLP's own privacy policy applies. Stanza does not see or record what you browse there.

Purchases

Stanza Pro is sold through Apple. Apple handles payment, and I never see your payment details or your Apple Account. Apple shares only aggregated sales reports with developers.

Children

Stanza collects no data from anyone, children included.

This website

stanzareader.com uses no analytics and no cookies. The hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and reliability.

Changes

If this ever changes, for example if Stanza adds an optional feature that needs data, this page will say so before that feature ships, and the date at the top will change.
